Abstract

Deterpenation is a required operation to reduce the content of terpene hydrocarbons responsible for photochemical and thermal instability of these products, and are not important to define the flavor profile and aroma of an essential oil. The 1-decanal is adopted as the reference component, and increases its concentration is taken as an indicator of the quality of the final product. “Folds Five” is a trade name for terpeneless orange essential oil, which multiplied by five times the concentration of 1-decanal. We performed a simulation process of distillation under reduced pressure with CC-BATCH of CHEMCAD v 6.2 to get this product. Experimentally the orange oil essential oil was distilled in a fractionating borosilicate glass column, using the conditions obtained in the simulation, being a very good agreement between experimental and computational model
