Abstract

Thanks to advances in wireless communications technologies and the use of wireless sensor networks it has been facilitated the transmission of data from environmental sensors. This paper is an initial stage of a project that involves the design and creation of a development platform for testing wireless sensor networks based in Zigbee technology using XBee modules and free hardware for studying different types of topologies and sensors and monitoring through a central recorder. In the work the design and development of a wireless temperature sensor based on Zigbee technology and battery powered, and a recorder with data storage in star network topology with two sensors and a central node logger is explained. The sensors have been achieved theoretical autonomy of over 4 years.
