Abstract

Mesoporous materials of the B-MCM-41 type were prepared. The influence of several hydrothermal treatment periods, the hydroxide source, the B content, the degree of B incorporation in the structure and the acidity material were investigated.
It was confirmed that the acidity of the samples is due to the silanol nest structural defects present in the synthesized material. These species are mainly due to the introduction of B within the structure and the acidic properties may be caused by the presence of the heteroatom. In this way it was possible to obtain mesoporous materials with a moderate acidity, which is a very important feature for certain catalytic processes.
