Hydrogen is an important energy vector, which can replace the existing demand of fossil fuels. One of the major drawbacks for the implementation of the hydrogen-based systems to the current autonomy of traditional fuels is its storage.
Currently, there are researches to develop materials for use in hydrogen storage systems, such as metal hydrides and physisorption of hydrogen on porous materials.
In this work, MCM-41 materials have been synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis with a molar ratio Si/Ni of 20 and 60 and increased days of synthesis from 0 to 7 days. The influence of the synthesis time variation on the structural and textural properties of the final solids were studied, and hydrogen adsorption on these materials and nickel effect in the structure was evaluated, for improve the hydrogen storage. The structures obtained were characterized by, N2 adsorption–desorption at 77 K, X-ray diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy.
