Circular economy and ecosystem services: development of social technology for the comprehensive valuation of waste mediation in NE Chubut

The current social patterns of production and consumption cause a double environmental crisis of resource scarcity and waste overload. A transition towards a circular economy that contributes to a resilient environment and human well-being is necessary to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participatory action research initiatives can contribute to this transition, generating evidence that values waste by integrating environmental, social and economic factors. This article presents a sequence of experiences in the VIRCH-Valdés Region, Chubut, and the instruments used to generate value-added strategies based on industrial and urban waste, through the design of soft technologies aimed at identifying and valuing the benefits. of changes in the demand for ecosystem services.
