Abstract

It has been developed an application (Spiral-Plate Heat Exchanger SPHE V1.0) to design and verification of this type of exchangers under two calculate modes available on the specialized bibliography. It has functionality to operate with fluids without phase change and counter current flow arrangements, anticipating expand its future potential. The application was implemented using Java Development Kit, particularly Netbeans 7.3 and it has  a data base made on Microsoft Access 2010 with more than hundred components which can be expanded without limit. Its operation is simple and intuitive and it was used successfully in the design of industrial chillers for fermentation musts high concentration of solids and suspensions. It is an academic tool of interest to be used in specific chairs of undergraduate and graduate students.
