Abstract

Results on the behaviour of a built in-house hydrogen/oxygen single PEM fuel cell are presented. Gas diffusion electrodes with polycristalline Pt nanoparticles supported on Vulcan XC-72 carbon were prepared in our laboratory. The experimental polarization curves show a typical profile where the different region of energy losses associated with limiting phenomena are distinguished. The influence of the operation temperature and gas stream humidification on fuel cell performance is evaluated. An activation method for the fuel cell gas difusion electrodes is proposed
