Abstract

With the need to define student profiles and determine patterns that lead to academic success or failure, it is proposed to evaluate student performance through Data Mining techniques. The proposal does not only focus on analyzing the student's profile through their grades but also studying academic performance based on other variables. This work describes a Data Warehouse model to determine the profiles of academic performance in the subject Algorithms and Data Structures of the career Information Systems Engineering of the UTN-Faculty Regional Resistance (UTN-FRRe) with the objective of implementing strategies that help those students with a profile aimed at failure or defection. The main characteristic of the model is that it combines aspects related to the student's grades together with other variables such as socioeconomic, demographic, cultural factors, among others, based on which it allows classifying different student profiles.
