Abstract

urrently, internet information retrieval has become a complex task due several aspects re-lated to the huge quantity of heterogeneous and unstructured data. Indeed, Web resources have many different characteristics that difficult the searching processes. In addition subjectivity and uncertainty, associated with user requests, make it difficult to build efficient queries to be used in search engines or browsers. In this work a Web mining model to improve information retrieval processes is presented. The proposed model has two main components, the first one is a requirement analysis module that helps users to build search queries and the second component is a Web mining module that uses these queries to guide the search process. The results obtained in the tests performed demonstrate that the model retrieves information according to the definitions by the user in an appropriate manner.
