This study compares the flexural demand in columns according to the INPRES-CIRSOC 103 and ACI 318 standards, assessing their impact on seismic structural design. While ACI 318 adopts a simplified approach, INPRES-CIRSOC 103 incorporates dynamic amplification and moment reduction factors, allowing for a more precise yet computationally demanding estimation. A parametric analysis of 4-, 6-, and 8-story buildings shows that ACI 318 may underestimate column demand, compromising strength hierarchy. In contrast, INPRES-CIRSOC 103 yields higher ηc values, enhancing structural safety. The results suggest that the selection of design code must balance accuracy and practical applicability based on regional seismicity and design tools.
