Arc-flash studies allow for the assessment of risks associated with electrical arcs and help define the personal protective equipment requirements in electrical installations. This paper proposes a methodology for conducting these studies using open-source software as an alternative to commercial tools. The analysis follows a calculation procedure based on empirical equations, which begins with a short-circuit and protection study. A new software, developed in Python and aligned with the standards of the Argentine Electrotechnical Association 92606, is introduced and its results are analyzed. The results demonstrate the flexibility of the tool, as it not only assesses the risk level and generates the required signage, but also performs sensitivity analysis across multiple parameters. This enables decision-making and planning for modifications in the installation to reduce the risk level. Lastly, the paper discusses the software's potential and limitations.
