Abstract

This work presents a model for the optimal supply chain (SC) design of the cellulosic bioethanol production. The supply chain studied consists of forest plantations, cellulosic bioethanol plants and consumption centers. The aim of the
project is to identify the optimal SC configuration that maximizes profits and to facilitate the decision making regarding forestry plantations and plants localization, wood and technology involved in the bioethanol production process and optimum amount of products transported between different links. The model is formulated with generalized disjunctive programming and then implemented as a mixed integer linear program in GAMS.
