Abstract

This paper theoretically and experimentally studied the relationship between density and mechanical properties of particleboards obtained from 88.5% of wood chips and 11.5% of urea-formaldehyde resin with 57.35% solids. Paricleboards of 550, 650 and 750 Kg/m3 nominal densities (A, B, and C; respectively) at temperature = 150 °C, pressure = 30 Kg/cm2 and time = 10 min. were obtained. Final properties such as density, bending and internal bond were measured. The density and the internal bond of the panels A and B were statistically equal. Also, a simple regression model that relates density with internal bond, bending strength and flexural modulus, respectively; was adopted.
