Abstract

This paper deals with the experimental study of a two stage rocket separation phase in the low atmosphere. A wind tunnel test campaign has been done in order to analyze the static and dynamic behavior of the first stage during the
separation, evaluating possible interferences with the second stage. The first stage was found to be stable while flying at low angles of attack. However, if the perturbations suffered during the separation are taken into consideration, then the first stage becomes unstable.
