Abstract

Different interactions between the nucleating FexOy species and two zeolitic supports were determined. Based on a hydrothermal synthesis of nano hæmatite, two zeolitic catalysts with different activities in a Photo-Fenton reaction were obtained. The higher activity of the catalyst synthesized with a hierarchical zeolite is attributed to the presence of octahedral Al that act as a nucleation site and give rise to a greater number of much smaller hæmatite crystals. The materials were thoroughly characterized by XRD, DRS-UV vis, TPR, FIT-IR, NMR, SEM, EDS, TEM and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms.
