Abstract

This work shows the results of the research of negative effects on electric network caused by massive use of alineal charge with higher harmonic distortion in current superior at 110%. For this reason was analyzed the thermal and electrical changes on a reference transformer subjected to the same level of apparent power but with different values of power factor.
The results show that the high THD loads generates a raised temperature due to increased losses in the transformer associated with a lower utilization factor.
Furthermore test on conductors had shows that for the same current level, in accordance with the result obtained in a transformer, the final temperature on equal interval time is higher when the harmonic distortion is incremented.
The results demonstrate there are lower levels of energetic efficiency when a comparation of incandescent lamps and compact fluorescent lamp is made.
