This work compares the value of the local modulus of elasticity obtained experimentally with that determined from the global modulus of elasticity according to three internationally recognized criteria (UNE-EN 384 2016, INTI-CIRSOC 2016 and Danzler et al. 2008). The experimental program was developed, according to European standards, on 396 structural elements of Pópulus deltoides sawn wood, clones 'Australian 129/60' and 'Stoneville 67', grown in the delta of the Paraná River in Argentina. The high correlation between the local modulus of elasticity and the global modulus of elasticity was confirmed. The incidence that, in the relationship between both modules, has the normative requirement to locate the greatest defects in the central third when testing the pieces was found. The determination from the global modulus of elasticity presented lower results than the experimental ones with an approximation greater than 95%.
