Abstract

In this work, MCM-41 mesoporous silicates were prepared and modified with transition metals (Fe, Co) by a direct synthesis method. The influence of the metal content was tested varying the initial molar Si/Metal ratio (120, 60 or 20). The different meso-structures obtained were characterized by XRD, UVVIS-RD, N2 adsorption and the magnetic behavior was studied at room temperature. All samples showed typical paramagnetic behavior, indicating high dispersion metal species. There was also an important superparamagnetic contribution for samples with the highest iron loading, indicating a greater magnetic interaction between the nano-species.
