Abstract

The aim of this study is to set a suitable proportion between the inert materials, which compose a stabilized soil, as the first stage in the survey of bitumen emulsion incorporation to a gravel-cement mixture for pavements bases construction. Therefore, a characterization of these materials - soil (S), fine aggregate (Af) and large aggregate (Ag) - has been made. Having set the proportions (S 8% - Af 40% - Ag 52%), this study concludes with the determination of the optimum moisture content, the maximum dry density and the bearing strength of the soil-aggregate mixture
