Abstract

In this work, the crushing strength of the hybrid wood Hybrid Pinus elliottii var. Elliottii x Pinus caribaea var. Hondurensis, coming from the Province of Misiones, Argentina, has been determined – a base parameter to establish the load capacity of a wood joints. 118 specimens of 24 mm of thickness and other dimensions adjusted to Norm, with rigid bolt of 7 mm of diameter have been tested, according to the UNE-EN 383 Norm, of which 74 specimens were tested in a direction parallel to the fiber and 44 in perpendicular direction. The values of characteristic resistance to the crushing obtained were of 22 N/mm2 and 15 N/mm2 for the parallel and perpendicular directions respectively. For the set of test specimens, the density was determined, a high correlation with the crushing tensions being found. Values for the expected deformations in different loading conditions have been calculated.  The results obtained were compared with the NDS values.
