Abstract

Technological advances in recent times have given rise to new electrical and electronic devices enhancing people quality of life. Opposite to this, the undesirable effects which have been originated by those devices in the electrical networks. One of the evident effect is the distortion of the voltage waveform by the production of harmonics. Some of the other effects produced are Joule loss increases, film effect, additional magnetic losses, interference, resonance, etc. Through a specific software of electric power systems, a network of the province of Chaco is studied in this work, assuming a generic harmonic load. Once the problems caused by the same is detected, harmonic filters are designed with RLC circuits that ensure the normal operation within the established by the current regulations in terms of power quality and technical product.
