The background on the study of porous concrete in the Argentine Republic is limited. Especially in our region (Entre Ríos, Uruguay river basin) there is practically no specific information available. Therefore, this work was oriented to characterize the mechanical and hydrological properties of porous concrete constructed with local materials. Progress was made in the design of different mixtures, whose porosities are variable up to a maximum of 25%. The compressive strength was between 9 and 39 Mpa, and the tensile strength by flex between 1.4 and 2.4 Mpa, whose values are consistent with those reported by the literature. Infiltration rates of clean specimens (Io in mm/h) were determined, which they are between 7000 mm/ h and 44,000 mm/ h, and their variation according to the degree of clogging observing a drastic reduction until reaching the total clogging (Ic in mm/h) with rates between 20 and 45 mm / h.
