Abstract

The present work deals with the design of a positioning system of directional probes, called traverser, to perform wake mapping behind and around the models. For this purpose, the requirements of the system are to be able to position a probe according to the 3 reference axes of the wind tunnel test section (XYZ) with an accuracy of less than 1mm. The positioning of the probe was designed to be completely automatic and controlled from the central PC, by means of specific development software. An additional degree of freedom in rotation was included on the xy plane, in such a way that the probe could be positioned at an angle to the plane of the model.
