Isoelectric focusing is a bioanalytical technique prevalent in medicine, food science, and environmental control.
In previous work, many different simulations of isoelectric focusing have been performed in an attempt to understand and predict the behavior of these complex systems. Such simulations carry very high computational costs, and may have execution times in the order of several days—thus not being suitable for use by scientists working on experimental development. To bridge the gap between lab needs and numerical capabilities, a tool has been developed that provides valuable information to experimenters, such as the exact locations of molecules, and the distribution of pH, in an isoelectric focusing test. The cross-platform application, which includes a friendly and simple-to-use graphical interface, allows users studying proteins with isoelectric focusing to instantly predict the main results of their tests.
