Abstract

During the high-speed machining of a mechanical component, residual stresses are inevitably introduced. These stresses can generate adverse effects on both the machined component geometry and useful life. In this work, from a micro-indent method, it was possible to study the behavior of samples of aluminum alloys AA 6082-T6 and AA 7075-T6, which were subjected to different combinations of high-speed parameters. Finally, the obtained results allowed to evaluate the different stress states introduced in each of the materials and, besides, the possible causes generating the mentioned stresses.
