Abstract

This report has been generated as a partial result in the .framework of a research project on Video Compression with Wavelets using Programmable Logic, a joint endeavour agreed upon by the Institute Universitario Aeronautic° and the Universidad Tecnologica Nacional — Facultad Regional Cordoba. The objective of this report is to demonstrate the design and simulation of linear phase FIR .filters (finite impulse response filters) using Matlab® and Simulink® as design and validation tools. The report begins with a conceptual and theoretical description of FIR filters, continuing with the, filters design and ending with their simulation. Some design alternatives are also discussed, like windowing of infinite response, and the implementation of different filter types (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and hand-reject responses), with their respective simulation.
