Abstract

Environmental pollution by urban solid waste (USW) is an urgent and growing problem that requires the development of innovative technologies for recycling and construction in this field is central. Current researchpresents the application of a composite material (CM) of recycled plastic polymers from different origin, reusing among others Silobags films, which today recycling rates are beneath 10%. A CM approaching sufficient mechanical properties and with similar behavior to soft or semi-soft wood was obtained. Its application to the production of window profiles is consider positive, generating prototypes that verified the Minimum (M) or Intermediate (I) performance of the Brazilian standard NBR 15575, in air permeability and handling operations. Only tightness of them was considered insufficient.
