Abstract

Radiant solar energy is clean energy and an inexhaustible resource for human beings. Industrialization, the displacement of the rural population to urban centers and the construction of houses have led to the growing substitution of natural soil for others made of asphalt or concrete. The pavements of the streets are heated by solar radiation, there are consequences in the structure of the pavements and also in the environmental temperature which in the city is higher than in the surrounding rural region creating what is called urban heat island, ICU. The use of materials that present greater reflectance or albedo and high emissivity cool the pavement, moderating the ICU. In this work, the influence of clear surface coverings and pores inside the pavements is analyzed on the thermal behavior of samples heated with artificial sunlight.
