Abstract

Currently, a paradigm shift is taking place in the way electric energy is generated, moving from large-scale centralized generators to small ones, which are distributed on the network and are based on non-conventional and renewable sources. Distributed generation has been historically used in several ways to complement the centralized generation, for example, as a back-up power generation capacity; but now, there is a tendency to change the role of these generations distributed from the back-up to the primary source of energy. In this context, the technical paper has as its overall objective, design an electric micro-grid with self-sufficiency capacity.   In order to achieve this aim, a simulation software that allows design and analyzes by technical and economic variabilities the viability of installing the micro-grid will be used.
