To achieve sustainable management in the construction industry, it is essential to analyze the environmental impacts of the materials used in building projects. This investigation evaluates the filler replacement in hot asphalt mixes using residual ornamental stone powder from a marble factory. This study aims to explore the potential for reusing these residues as a viable and sustainable alternative to reduce the dependence on natural resources and contribute to proper waste management.
Laboratory tests were conducted comparing standard mixtures with those that substitute lime, using stone cutting waste at 33%, 66%, and 100% by weight. The results showed a decrease in stability and an increase in the creep in the asphalt mixtures after the replacements. The use of these residues had a positive impact, with replacement limited to 50% while remaining within required regulatory standards. Additionally, it generated environmental benefits by reducing natural resource consumption and promoting the reuse of waste, preventing its final disposal.
