In search of knowing specific entry skills from the scientific-technological career applicants, it has been decided to analyze the individual solving of a proposal problem from entering students to the industrial engineering of the UTN-FRC that should allow us to characterize one of the specific skills of access defined by the Federal Council Of Deans Of Engineering- CONFEDI, the one of “solving simple Math, Physics or Chemistry problems by applying mathematical models”. Such solutions require to manage an integrated curriculum and specific knowledge in natural sciences and mathematics.
This work shows the results of the solution of a concrete problem according to the achievement´s indicators stablished by CONFEDI, according to the document about required skills for entering to the university studies.
Among the results, the one referring to modeling, a 36,1% managed to graphically represent by a scheme, a 19,7% indicates the magnitudes and measurement units and a 9,8% is proposing a scale. A 3,3% can differentiate data from unknown data, while a 65,6% stablished only data. A 16,4% respects the dimensional homogeneity principle and the 11,5% communicates the results in a proper way.
CONFEDI proposes that the expected level from students should be high for this indicator, the results of the study has shown the necessity of rehearsing this competence during the development of the introductory classes and assignments of first year that will help with the skills of graduation in the formation of engineers.
