Abstract

Power production in wind farms has reached a level of high demand in many countries; however, this technology is still under development in Argentina. Production efficiency in such farms is dependent on the design of the farms as well as on weather conditions, including temperature, atmospheric pressure, and, most importantly, wind speed. For this reason, small errors in meteorological forecasts regarding wind speeds result in large errors in wind powered energy predictions. In this paper, climatic data from a specific location of Argentina is analyzed in order to quantify this margin of error and its impact on short-term forecasts for wind power generation.
