Abstract

Perlite is a volcanic origin rock, whose outstanding property is to expand when subjected to the action of heat, increasing its volume up to twenty times. Expanded, it is used mainly in the construction industry as thermal and acoustic insulation. During its fractionation process mineral waste called "perlite fines" is produced. This work covers the study of colored self-compacting concrete (C-SCC) with perlite fines (PF) incorporation, different mixtures development is proposed in order to analyze concrete fresh and hardened state properties to define if its use is feasible as a replacement of a cement part in the mixture.
