Abstract

Wind energy is currently presented as one of the renewable energy sources with the highest penetration in Argentina. This type of generation presents a large participation in the Patagonian region due to the exceptional conditions of the wind resource. On the other hand, the energy transport system of that region is characterized by being a net export area with extensive transmission networks and low levels of demand. For this reason, based on probabilistic wind analysis methods and static regime studies, the objective is to determine the dispatch power values of wind farms in Patagonia for conditions of greater probability and maximum wind speed. Considering the most demanding scenarios for different demand/generation dispatch configurations, from the results obtained, it can be inferred that, given the current conditions, the transmission subsystem is not capable of operating within the operating margins, requiring wind discharge.
