Abstract

In the aerospace field, on-board signal processing techniques aimed at removing noise from measurements and reducing the amount of data sent to Earth are of interest. The Wavelet transform is one of the techniques used in satellites and is an alternative to the Fourier transform, in which small windows are used for high frequencies and large ones for low frequencies. In this way, it allows analyzing the signal in different scales or levels of resolution.
This paper shows the application of the Wavelet Transform in noise filtering and compression of signals sent by a satellite. To facilitate the understanding of the application, a graphical interface (GUI) was developed in Matlab that shows graphical and tabulated results.
