Study of the braking performance of railway rolling stock

Abstract

Within the railway field, it is of vital importance, mainly for safety and to guide maintenance tasks, to knowthe performance of railway rolling stock during the braking process. This paper shows an exploratory data analysis(EDA) of the data collected in braking tests on three type trains used in the passenger services of the AMBA railwaylines. These tests are carried out under controlled conditions to allow their comparison, and from there, the stoppingdistances and accelerations of each type of rolling stock are statistically analyzed.
