Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze issues related to “electrical power quality” through an actual case study. The study was carried out in a local company that presents a considerable nonlinear electric charge associated to the lighting system. A measuring of the electrical system of the place was conducted and, the equipment used to measure the electrical parameters together with the location of the measuring point were detailed. Then, a technical summary of the characteristics of the measurements obtained is presented and the most important conclusions are exposed, showing a significant amount of voltage and current harmonics due to the type of load. This situation may cause problems, that is why a section about possible solutions is added below. The results show the importance of following these types of studies among users of the electrical grid.
