Abstract

In the present work, the objective is to study different types of residential electricity rates and carry out an economic analysis of the replacement of a conventional car for an electric one with similar benefits. The aim is to compare different types of users, differentiated by the recharging power of the vehicles and their behavior depending on the power demand of the network (controlled or uncontrolled recharging).
Initially, the application of a flexible and polynomial electricity rate is evaluated, with the purpose of encouraging the recharging of electric vehicles during off-peak hours. Studies of the economic expenditures of different types of users and sensitivity analyzes are then carried out to identify key points that would make the use of electric vehicles attractive.
The results indicate that, if acquisition costs of electric vehicles similar to those of conventional vehicles are established, said change is profitable.
