This paper presents an aspect of land use planning in seismic zones, the site effect. An area of high population density in the City of Mendoza, Argentina, is chosen for the development of this area to carry out a seismic microzoning based on natural ground frequencies that are obtained through the H/V spectral ratio procedure, which is a empirical procedure based on environmental vibrations. In this way, it is intended to identify the areas exposed to the phenomenon of seismic amplification when an earthquake of medium or high magnitude occurs. This study is part of the research projects ECUTNME0004343 and ECECBME0008099TC, and will provide useful information for the organization of land use and urban planning.
