Abstract

The objective of this work is to evaluate the feasibility of calibrating a commercial device for measuring humidity Smart Sensor AR991 for use within the production process of Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB). The proposal arises from the need to be able to control the humidity levels in the mixing stage, this being a critical factor in the prevention of various failures caused by both lack and excess of water in said activity prior to pressing the blocks. The proposed methodology consisted of making, calculating and analyzing different types of moisture measurements in a mixture of soils that later allows to define if the use of the equipment is suitable for this purpose. It was possible to demonstrate that the device can be used as a prevention and control instrument within the manufacturing process, taking into account some particularities.
