Abstract

In 2016, with the approval of the first Argentine Regulation of Wooden Structures, an important impulse was given by making available to professionals a regulation with design criteria for these structures, with reference values for the species / provenance studied, which they are the Araucaria angustifolia of Misiones, the Eucalyptus grandis of Entre Ríos, the Pinus Taeda - Elliottii of Misiones y Corrientes and the Populus deltoides of the Paraná River delta. The use of glued laminated elements resulted in the need for a manufacturing process that ensures good performance. In Argentina, IRAM standards 9660/1/2 and 9661 of the year 2015 establish the manufacturing and control guidelines for these structural elements. In this work the objective of the study is to determine the resistant and elastic behavior of slender bars of glued laminated wood of Populus deltoides ‘Australian 129/60’ and ‘Stoneville 67’ cultivated in Argentina, subjected to compression efforts. The theoretical calculation of the critical stress was developed according to the criteria of the INTI-CIRSOC regulation (2016a) and Eurocode 5 (EN 1995-1-1 2005) for slender bars compressed in glued pieces of Populus deltoides for the purpose of evaluating the security level provided by the calculation procedure, verify the differences between the two and compare the evaluated results of the trials of 320 slender bars.
