Review of Optimization Strategies for Environmental Control in Water Resources
Keywords:
Water Quality, Hydromorphological Model, Finite Elements, Optimization StrategiesAbstract
This review presents various research works previously published by the Center for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CIMTA) on design problems related to water quality in aquatic environments. The review highlights the evolution in the development and combination of mathematical approaches aimed at reducing the number of numerical simulations and minimizing the computational times required to solve design problems. It includes a brief introduction to the environmental issues, the importance of mathematical models and numerical methods as predictive tools, and the advantages of the simulation optimization approach in design and management for decision-making. The review describes the advancements in the analyzed works and provides some illustrative examples. Finally, a comparative analysis of these works is conducted.
