Abstract

The construction of the mechanical and electrical subsystems of a test bench for a brushless electric generator is reported. The objective is to have a system in the GIMAP laboratory to carry out controlled experimental tests for extracting information from this type of generators with the aim to wave-driven applications. Thus, the aim is to achieve similar conditions to those that a generator would be subjected to during its operation in a real environment, coupled to a small-scale wave energy pendulum converter. The proposed approach focuses on an implementation similar to another previously carried out for its application in urban wind turbines. The design comprises the drive system, including the installation of an electric motor and gearbox, and the selection and assembly of an electric generator. However, it does not include the construction of conditioning electronics, although the guidelines for doing so are indicated.
