Currently, there are digital tools that organizations can adopt to know their technological maturity and define a digital transformation plan. Even when the benefits of incorporating technologies are known, there is a vast group of SMEs with a strong technological and productive backwardness. The application results show that there are difficulties and obstacles in different SMEs depending on the digitization processes that are to be implemented. Considering this problem, this work presents a first proposal for a scientific and practical methodology for identifying digital transformation objectives in SMEs. This methodology consists of 5 steps: 1- Description of the organizations, 2- Prioritization of areas, 3- Completion of the questionnaire, 4- Questionnaire processing mechanism and 5- Identification of the area and the objective of digital transformation. For its proposal, the RAMI 4.0 (Reference Architecture Model Industry) reference framework is taken, which is driven by the German I4.0 Platform.
