Abstract

In this work, a literature review is conducted on the use of membranes for biogas purification. Different materials, modules, and flow configurations are analyzed, as well as mathematical models and treatment configurations from the perspective of process and systems engineering. The diffusion solution model describing transport in polymeric membranes is presented, and the need for a rigorous mathematical model that considers various variables and allows for optimization of the biogas improvement process at industrial scale is discussed.
