Abstract

Arc flash risk studies are increasingly demanded in order to protect operators working with energized electrical installations. This work involves the implementation of an algorithm that aids in conducting Arc-Flash studies according to the international standard IEEE 1584. Additionally, a user-friendly interface has been developed to simplify its use for risk assessment by non-specialist users and allows for the printing of warning labels with the resulting analysis values. The calculator is then validated against similar online calculators and is used to analyze two case studies with different voltage levels and short-circuit powers.
