Abstract

The objective of this work is to evaluate the technical feasibility of using the waste material from sand mining destined for the oil and gas industry in the province of Río Negro (Arg.) for the manufacture of adobes. With the materials from said industry, different series of test samples were made on which physical and mechanical tests were carried out. Specifically, it was determined: shrinkage due to drying, dry density, compressive strength and resistance to wet erosion. The analysis of the results allows us to conclude that, by combining the earth and sand recycled from sand mining in Río Negro, it is possible to produce adobes that meet the requirements stipulated by international reference standards and national recommendations for this type of elements constructive.
