Abstract

The residential sector represents 45% of the electricity demand in the Argentine Republic, and similar values are estimated for the province of Santa Fe. Consequently, knowing the load curves and typical consumption profiles of this segment is of great interest before implementing measures to improve energy quality, energy efficiency, demand management, and distributed generation. The project that frames the study seeks to characterize the demand profiles of residential users in the city of Santa Fe. This work shows the results of the first stage, which characterizes the consumption of commonly used appliances. The results obtained show the important contributions to the distortion of electrical quality in the residential area and the need to implement corrective measures. The measurements are based on the use of instruments that are in line with energy quality regulations.
