Abstract

This study focuses on the digitalization of a system for testing the production of medicinal plants through hydroponics. It describes how to achieve interoperability of assets with passive communication capabilities within Industry 4.0 architectures, at a low cost. This is achieved through automatic control, which regulates system parameters through sensor measurements and data processing, so that plants can develop in a controlled environment. In addition, the creation of a digital twin of the system is proposed to integrate system data in real time, providing a complete and updated view of it. An innovative and efficient system is presented that demonstrates the potential of these novel technologies and their reference architectures in production schemes.
