Abstract

The present work covers the preliminary stage in the study related to the kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in order to provide new knowledge that contributes to the understanding of one of the most important reactions in the area of electrochemistry. In particular, the materials studied in this work include the synthesis of Ni on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG). The results obtained allowed us to conclude that the electrodeposition of Ni on HOPG is presented as a suitable alternative method for the formation of nanostructures and that, in the face of acidic electrocatalytic solutions, they generate oxygenated metal compounds.
